Below this letter you will find the latest revision to the S TX District Ministry Safe Policy. It is imperative that your Church Board adopt this policy and that your church actually implement the policy fully. Our first concern must be for the welfare of the vulnerable members of our congregation or outreach. Additionally, there is significant legal exposure for your church, our District and the Nazarene Denomination if we fail to take reasonable and appropriate actions to prevent sexual or other misconduct in our facilities or at our sponsored activities.
The actual policy is set forth in the following pages along with the needed forms and information on how to establish an account for your church (for ordering background checks) under the District’s Master or “Parent” account with National Screening Bureau [NATSB]. After initial “catch up” on background checks, ongoing cost should be minimal.
Please note that this policy pertains to staff members (paid or volunteer) as well as volunteer workers from within the congregation. This is the same background check you should also perform when granting someone a Local License for the first time.
Your cooperation in ensuring that S TX District Church of the Nazarene is in full compliance with this policy is greatly appreciated. We want to ensure that our ministries are God-honoring, not in any way harmful to those who participate.
